When Shin-kun met Mr. David Cameron, esq.

(I suppose I should have done Abe-san’s words in comic sans to indicate that his English is somehow ‘different’, like they do with katakana on people from other countries speaking Japanese on J-TV.)

"Don’t fool yourself. English isn’t inherently superior, or easier to learn, or more sonically pleasing. Its international usage comes from forceful assimilation and legacy of colonialistic injection. It isn’t a deed that one should take pride in."

- my uncle left this comment on his friend’s Facebook status, a white British man who was bragging about how easy it is to be a native English speaker when trekking to different nations. (via maarnayeri)

Abandoned power generator on Okunoshima, Japan.
During WWII, this island - because of it’s fairly secretive location - was used to produce chemical weapons.  After the war, the need for weapons evaporated and is currently a tourist spot, with a resort, beach, camping, etc.  It’s also covered with hundreds of rabbits, once domesticated and used to people so are not afraid to hop up to you and ask for a snack.

The juxtaposition of ruins such as this generator and the cuteness of the rabbits makes this one of the best places ever, imo.

  • Question: Hey hey! I read that you also took the JLPT N3 in 2011 and are going to take the N2 this December, right? Just the same with me, so I thought I'd leave a note of encouragement. 一所懸命頑張ってください。 - epenthese-blog
